Quilting is my gift from cancer. I began quilting during a long recovery following a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery in 1998, and I haven't stopped. It is my way of expressing myself creatively and making something beautiful. I love every part of the process, from creating an idea, choosing the colors and fabric, cutting out the pieces and sewing them together. And then there's the quilting itself.

After a recurrence of breast cancer in 2003, I was unable to quilt for eight months while in treatment. When I was able to quilt again I noticed that my creativity had reached a new level. I've been quilting "outside the block", designing my own pieces in a more artistic venue. In between creating art, I make a quilt for someone I love.

I want to create heirlooms.
I wish to nurture people and bring them comfort.
